Styria is the second largest state in the southeast of Austria. It covers an area of 16,401 km² and has a population of about 1.2 million. Its capital city is Graz which was the Cultural Capital of Europe in 2003 and is part of the UNESCO World Heritage list. Graz is home to more than 55,000 students, studying at 5 universities and 2 universities of applied sciences. This is reflected in the dynamic and innovative atmosphere with many events and cultural festivities.

Styria is the leading state in innovation, exemplified by the outstanding performance of the export industry which has enjoyed dynamic growth. With a R&D quota of 4.6 %, Styria has been beating the EU targets for many years. This is due to outstanding training and research facilities and an unique entrepreneurial spirit which is characterized by famous Styrians such as California's ex-governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, Red Bull creator Didi Mateschitz and the former No. 1 tennis champion Thomas Muster.

The economic growth in Styria is well above EU average. The strenght of the economy and the environmental diversity form the basis for wealth and the high quality of life for the people in the region.

Due to continuing technological progress, the businesses of Styria are constantly looking for highly skilled technical workers. On 4 April 2014, the Internationalisation Center Styria and Advantage Austria Madrid will organise job interviews in Madrid with some of the most successful and innovative companies from Styria.

This event targets university graduates with degrees in technical studies looking for a new professional challenge and interested in living in one of the most attractive areas of Austria.
